Intermedical Insurance – Temporary International Medical Insurance Plan

Intermedical Insurance is temporary international medical insurance plan for people traveling outside the US and outside their home country. The plan offers excellent benefits to travelers, including coverage for medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation expenses. The plan also offers Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits for accidents occurring during travel outside the insured’s home country.

Intermedical Travel Medical Insurance is a simple plan offering a daily rate for easy premium computation. Please note the plan offers coverage only outside USA. Intermedical is very popular with those on Medicare and seeking to travel overseas. Since, US Medicare coverage offers no coverage for foreign travel, InterMedical fills this gap very well. Besides InterMedical Insurance plan has no age limit.

  • Intermedical Insurance provides a medical expenses policy benefit maximum of US$25,000 under plan A and $100,000 under plan B
  • $50 per certificate period.
  • Outside the U.S. and Canada:
    For the Certificate Period, Intermedical Insurance will pay 100% of Eligible Expenses after the Deductible up to the Overall Maximum Limit.
  • In USA:
    Intermedical Insurance is not available for coverage in the US.
  • Optional Upgrades include $400,000 Additional Coverage for Accidental Death & Dismemberment
  • Intermedical Insurance is limited to 364 days for international travelers.
  • Intermedical Insurance is underwritten by the Insurance Company of the state of Pennsylvania, a member company of AIG.
  • Claims for Intermedical Insurance is administered by AIG Claims based in USA.

  • Eligibility

    Intermedical Insurance applies to people traveling outside the US outside their home country and require international medical insurance. The cover is available for one year.

    Coverage becomes effective at 12.01 am on the latest of:

    • The departure from home country
    • The date after the insured person completed the enrollment form and the correct premium postmarked to Travel Insurance Services or
    • The requested effective date on the enrollment form.

    Coverage will end on the earliest of:

    • The return of the insured to the home country,
    • One year after the effective date, or
    • The requested termination date on the enrollment form for which premium was paid.

  • Remarks
    • PPO Network: You can go to any hospital or doctor while you travel outside your home country
    • Renewal: Intermedical Insurance cannot be renewed after the initial coverage period. However, one can buy a fresh plan. Each enrollment can provide a maximum period of coverage of one year.
    • Cancellation: One may cancel InterMedical insurance prior to the insurance effective date for a premium refund, less a $20 cancellation fee. After the effective date of coverage, the premium is considered fully earned and non-refundable.
