Travel Guard Essential Expanded Insurance provides coverage for travelers who want coverage and Travel Guard's exclusive 24-hour emergency travel services. Children 16 and under arecovered at no additional cost for every adult that purchases this Travel Guard Essential Expanded Insurance protection plan. Travel Guard Essential Expanded Insurance includes coverage for financial default, terrorism and pre-existing medical conditions.
New "umbrella" package of coverages available on Travelguard Essential Expanded Insurance
- Available as an add-on to Travelguard Essential Expanded Insurance Plan
- Replaces the previously available Optional Additional Medical
- Includes double the medical expense coverage ($20,000 total coverage for TGE-E)
- Includes double medical evacuation coverage ($200,000 total coverage for TGE-E)
- Expanded pre-trip travel advice available
Changes specific to Travel Guard Essential Expanded Insurance
- $1,000 in Trip Interruption coverage now included on trips with a Zero Trip Cost
- Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage now applies regardless of when Military Leave is revoked in relation to travel date
- Added $25,000 in Flight Guard coverage if purchased within 15 days of trip deposit
- Emergency Dental coverage is included as part of the maximum $10,000 base medical expense limits
- Deductibles for Medical and Baggage coverages no longer apply (when the Umbrella package is purchased)

Purchase your Travel Guard Essential Expanded Coverage policy within 15 days of your initial trip deposit (Day one is the initial trip payment date) you will receive:
- Coverage for bankruptcy of the cruise line, airline, and tour operator. (Bankruptcy coverage is not covered for all travel suppliers.)
- Coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that could eventually cause you to cancel or interrupt your trip
- Coverage for a terrorist incident in a city listed on your itinerary within 30 days of your scheduled arrival
- Family coverage: One child 16 or under will receive coverage for every adult that purchases this travel insurance protection plan at no additional cost.
As with Travel Guard Essential, you receive basic protection against trip related expenses such as:
- Trip cancellation, interruption and delay
- Emergency Medical Treatment
- Emergency Medical Evacuation
- Lost, stolen or damaged baggage or travel documents
- Baggage delay
